The disease made her lose control of her body, however she survived to life until 25 y.o and her courage to survive living has inspired many people to appreciate the life they have..
The script of the story is taken from Aya’s writting on her diary. The diary itself has sold over 1.1 million copies in Japan It makes me realize that sorrow will show you the importance of a family unity and who your true friend really is

Synopsis:
15-year-old Ikeuchi Aya was an ordinary girl, the daughter of a family who works at a tofu shop, and a soon-to-be high schooler. However, odd things have been happening to Aya lately. She has been falling down often and walks strange.
Her mother, Shioka, takes Aya to see the doctor, and he informs Shioka that Aya has spinocerebellar degeneration - a terrible disease where the cerebellum of the brain gradually deteriorates to the point where the victim cannot walk, speak, write, or eat. A cruel disease, as it does not affect the mind in the least.
How will Aya react when told about her disease? And how will Aya live from now on? Aya’s only wish was “to live."
By carefully depicting Aya’s earnest desire to live, and the love of her family, friends, and lover, the drama, “One Litre of Tears" wishes to deliver her simple but strong message:

I warn you to prepare boxes of tissue coz you’ll weep from the start up till the end.. The touch of the story, strong acting of all the casts (Salute for Erika Sawajiri who manage to live up the character of Aya, and Ryou Nishikido as Asou-kun, gosh i love this man.. first noticed him in Attention Please drama who always beside her and also for all the casts who play their role beautifully) and last but not least, the power of the melodies and music will surely drift you away..
